David Teitler - Founder and President

David is a senior media executive with over 25 years of sales, general management and marketing experience across the online, newspaper and magazine industries.

David has been building and executing successful online business models focused on monetizing the power of local markets since beginning his online career in 1999. Prior to founding BlackBox Media in April 2007, David was President of DotConnect Media. DotConnect is an advertising network of over 1,300 hosted online newspapers websites and grew to become the largest hosted local online network in the country during this time.

DotConnect Media grew substantially under David's leadership from when it began as the AdOne Network in 1999 and later became PowerOne Media through its merger with PowerAdz in 2002. As VP and General Manager of the division, David doubled top line revenue all four years between 2002 and 2006. A key driver of this growth was automating PowerOne Media's operational infrastructure in 2003, which greatly enhanced the division's speed to market and economies of scale.

In the traditional media space, David served as Vice President, Sales and Strategic Planning - Package Goods for the Newspaper National Network (NNN). He chaired the industry's Strategic Alliance Committee. These efforts led to the development of the medium's first case studies demonstrating the branding attributes of newsprint newspapers and established cross correlations with other media forms. Most notable of these was a landmark study conducted with Procter & Gamble for Tide. 

David started his career in magazines with management, sales and marketing positions at Glamour, Newsweek, Redbook, McCall's and the National Enquirer. David was named one of the "Top 100 Media Representatives in America" by Advertising Age in 1984.

David has published numerous articles on subjects ranging from cross-media convergence to the value of the local marketplace. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.

 

Betsy Ammer – Vice President, Director of Operations

Betsy manages all Network Operations and Accounting functions for BlackBox Media. She brings to us over 20 years sales, media, marketing and advertising management experience.

Betsy has had a distinguished career in leading magazine publishers and advertising agencies. Prior to joining BlackBox Media, Betsy held senior sales positions at Disney Adventures Magazine, Hearst’s Good Housekeeping, McCall’s Magazine and Meredith’s Special Interest Publications Division.

Betsy began her career at the Young & Rubicam advertising agency working on such blue chip accounts as General Foods. After rising to Media Supervisor in New York, Betsy became the first Media Director of Y&R’s San Francisco office.

Betsy is a graduate of St. Lawrence University.
